The company is actively engaged in the production of superior quality Inductor Choke in the international market. We are one of the leading Transformer Inductor Choke Manufacturers in India. Basically all the modern AC drives have the same basic construction. The line voltage is rectified, smoothed by a large capacitor, forming a DC voltage and inverted to form the PWM waveform for the motor. The diode rectifier causes high surge currents because they conduct only when the supply voltage exceeds the DC voltage for small drives, this can usually be accepted, but for large drives, impedance is necessary to reduce the peak currents. These harmonics are sometimes considered problematical; they do not carry any power but may increase the I²R losses in the cabling and source as well as cause voltage distortion through interacting with the source impedance of the transformer or generator. The AC Reactor Chokes or DC Iron Core Chokes can technically be placed either on the AC or on the DC side of the rectifier. The effect of either placement is very similar in terms of reduction of the peak currents and the effect on the harmonic content of the current waveform.

About AC/DC Inductor Choke

All modern AC drives have the same basic construction.

The choke can technically be placed either on the AC or on the DC side of the rectifier. The effect of either placement is very similar in terms of reduction of the peak currents and the effect on the harmonic content of the current waveform.

Differences Between AC and DC Choke
AC chokes inherently furnish better protection for the drive, as they are the first rugged components to be heat by any transients in the supply. A correct sized and designed PRIMA choke will be able to reduce the voltage and current stresses on the input rectifier bridge. The DC choke cannot furnish this protection.

In general, it is possible to make a DC choke smaller for a given inductance, as it has one (or two) coils, whereas an Ac chokes has three.

Considering all the factors, an AC choke is the better choice. It will do the same job of reducing harmonics and in addition, it will better protection to the frequency.
